Dara: Play the Hausa Strategy Board Game Online
Dara, also called Doki, is a strategy game played for centuries across northern Nigeria and Niger, often with stones and sticks in holes dug in the sand.
Place your twelve pieces, then move them to form lines of exactly three. Every line lets you take one of your opponent’s pieces. Simple to learn, deep to master.
How to play Dara
- The board has 30 holes. Each player has 12 pieces.
- First, take turns dropping your pieces into empty holes.
- Then move one piece one step up, down, left or right.
- Make a line of exactly three to remove one of your opponent’s pieces.
- Win when your opponent cannot move or has only two pieces left.
FAQ
Is Dara like tic-tac-toe?
It uses lines of three, but pieces move after they are placed and every line captures, which makes it a much deeper strategy game.
